Partners & Affiliations — Our Verified Bali Coffee Network

Our Network of Partners & Affiliations

The quality of our Bali coffee beans is a direct reflection of the strength and integrity of our network. We collaborate with a select group of farming cooperatives, regulatory bodies, certification agencies, and logistics experts who share our commitment to excellence, sustainability, and transparency. These partnerships are the foundation of our ability to deliver exceptional coffee from Bali to the world.

Farming Cooperatives & Subak Abian

Our most important partners are the farmers themselves. We work directly with established, community-led cooperatives that utilize the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Subak Abian system of sustainable agriculture.

  • Kintamani Highlands Cooperatives: Our primary partners for classic, GI-certified Kintamani Arabica, known for its bright citrus acidity and syrupy body.
  • Pupuan & Munduk Growers Associations: Collaborators for our specialty Robusta and emerging Arabica lots from Bali’s western and northern highlands.
  • Tampaksiring Micro-Lot Producers: We partner with innovative individual farmers and small family estates in regions like Tampaksiring to develop unique, experimental process lots (e.g., anaerobic honey, carbonic maceration).

Certification & Quality Assurance Bodies

Third-party verification is crucial for trust and market access. We are proud to work with and be certified by internationally recognized organizations.

  • Control Union / Peterson: Our primary partner for USDA NOP and EU Organic certifications, conducting annual audits of our farms and processing facilities.
  • Fair Trade USA / FLOCERT: The certifying bodies for our Fair Trade certified offerings, ensuring compliance with social, economic, and environmental standards.
  • Coffee Quality Institute (CQI): The organization that licenses our Head Q Grader, setting the global standard for specialty coffee evaluation.
  • Sucofindo: A leading Indonesian inspection and certification body we use for specific verification and testing services.

Government & Industry Associations

Navigating the Indonesian regulatory landscape requires close collaboration with government agencies and active participation in industry associations.

  • Kementerian Pertanian (Ministry of Agriculture): The primary regulatory body for agriculture in Indonesia. We work with them to obtain necessary permits and stay current on export protocols.
  • Direktorat Jenderal Bea dan Cukai (Directorate General of Customs and Excise): We work closely with customs officials at the Port of Benoa and Ngurah Rai Airport to ensure smooth and compliant export clearance.
  • Badan Karantina Pertanian (Agricultural Quarantine Agency): The agency responsible for issuing the mandatory Phytosanitary Certificates required for all our coffee shipments.
  • AEKI (Association of Indonesian Coffee Exporters and Industries): As active members, we contribute to and benefit from industry advocacy, market intelligence, and best practices.
  • SCOPI (Sustainable Coffee Platform of Indonesia): We align our sustainability programs with the national platform’s goals for a more prosperous and environmentally sound Indonesian coffee sector.

Logistics & Research Partners

  • Garuda Cargo: Our preferred partner for urgent air freight shipments, offering reliable service from Denpasar (DPS) to key international hubs.
  • Maersk & Major Shipping Lines: For our full container load (FCL) sea freight, we work with leading global carriers to ensure competitive rates and reliable transit times.
  • Indonesian Coffee and Cacao Research Institute (ICCRI / Puslitkoka): We consult with ICCRI on best practices for cultivation and processing and support their research into climate-resilient coffee varietals.

Ensuring unparalleled quality through meticulous processing

Beyond the verdant slopes where Bali’s coffee cherries ripen under the equatorial sun, a meticulous journey unfolds, guided by a network committed to unparalleled quality and ethical practices. Our partners extend their dedication beyond cultivation to crucial post-harvest stages. Hand-picking only the ripest, crimson cherries is the first step, ensuring optimal sugar content. These are immediately transported to processing centers, often within the cooperative’s vicinity, minimizing spoilage and preserving inherent freshness—a critical factor in ultimate cup quality.

Bali’s distinct coffee character is significantly shaped by its traditional “Giling Basah” or wet-hulled processing. Unlike fully washed methods, Giling Basah involves de-pulping and
